Last Thursday, President Duterte announced that the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) has already agreed to negotiate for a peace agreement with the government.
“I have a great news for you. It is with great happiness that I announce to the nation that Chairman Nur Misuari our brother who heads the MNLF has finally decided to accept my invitation to talk to us. He has obliged to the invitation and we are very grateful,”
Misuari who was present during the speech was seen smiling and nodding his head. Misuari arrived at the Malacañang Thursday afternoon shortly after the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 158 released its ruling ordering the six-month suspension of the arrest warrant as well as the trial of his rebellion charges in connection with the 2013 Zamboanga siege.
Duterte credited Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza “for doing the legwork” to relay his invitation to Misuari.
“We would like to ask that we work together with our Moro brothers and create a country that is just, that is good and that would be for the next generations to come,”
