The confirmed visit of Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre III on Wednesday (February 15) as head of Department of Justice created a passionated discussion between the Senators including Sen. Loren Legarda and Sen. Antonio Trillanes who opposed the decision of the Commission of Appointments (COA).

Senator Trillanes opposed the confirmation of Aguirre because of the statements of the Secretary that “criminals are not humanity”.

The Senator believes that the statement of Sec. Aguirre is not acceptable because he was the Department of Justice Secretary who handled cases of criminals.

However Sen. Legarda defended the statements of Secretary Aguirre, saying that the DOJ Sec only said that out of frustration but he doesn’t mean that all criminals are not human.
