WATCH! 10-Year-Old Girl Rescued after Grandma And Her Uncle Cut off her Finger for Stealing P20....

Authorities have rescued a 10-year-old girl in Tagum City, Davao del Norte after her grandmother allegedly cut off a portion of her finger.

According to a report by Jay Sabale on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, the girl alias "Cathy" was punished after being caught stealing P20.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development rescued Cathy on Monday after receiving a tip from the police and a concerned citizen.

Sr. Insp. Anjanette Tirador, chief of the Tagum PNP's Women and Children Protection Office, said the girl also suffered abuse at the hands of her uncle, who cut her hair when she didn't obey his orders to buy cigarettes for him.

"Pag inuutusan siya bumili ng sigarilyo, 'yun yung alleged nung bata, bibili siya ng sigarilyo, sasagutin daw niya yung tito niya na hindi siya allowed bumili ng sigrarilyo considering na minor siya and sigarilyo yung bibilhin," Tirador said.

"Nagalit daw yung tito so 'yun na pinuputulan yung buhok niya," she added.

Barangay gender equality development, women, children and social welfare chair Gloria Ibañez said she saw signs of trauma in Cathy.

"Na-trauma siya. Neglected po siya kasi lola lang ang nag-alaga sa kanya," Ibañez said.

Cathy's mother is an overseas Filipino worker in the Middle East while her father has long left her family.

The girl has been placed under the care of the Provincial Women's Development Center

The victim's grandfather defended the actions, saying this was not the first time Cathy stole from them.

"Sobra sobra na ang ninakaw. Sana kung P100, P500, kayang-kaya pa yan. Pero sobra sobra na ba, mga P7,000 na [nanakaw]," he said.

Cathy's uncle also denied the allegations against him. "Siya pa nga po nagsasabi na gupitan ko raw po siya," he said.

The victim's grandmother and uncle will face charges in violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Act Providing for Stronger Deterrence and Special Protection Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination, and for other purposes.
