Updated as of June 7, 2017 at 12:22 PM, the Philippine Star reported that Department of Justice Secretary Aguirre dragged Senators Antonio Trillanes and Bam Aquino to Marawi crisis and ordered probe on possible destabilization angle.

"Trillanes and Aquino met with clans in Marawi in a resto last May 2 or 2 weeks before Maute attack," said Aguirre.
Aguirre also revealed that Rep. Alejano, ex-presidential adviser Ronald Llamas were included in the meeting.

This report drew mixed reaction from netizens and many believed that the allegation is true.

One netizen said, "Yes this is it, they should be investigated once and for all for they are doing nothing to our countrymen but to destabilized. Their actions and motives are very clear indication of bringing this country down to restore their vested interest. Papayag ba tayo na mamamayagpag ulit ang mga kampon ng kadilawan? However, not all are agreeable with the revelation of Sec. Aguirre. "If this allegation is proven false, DOJ secretary should be sacked ASAP. He is the one destabilizing the country with his unfounded accusations," one netizen said.
