In a speech during the oath-taking ceremony of over 200 appointees on Monday, January 9, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he wanted to confront mayors who are on his final list of suspected drug personalities.
"Tatawagin ko 'yung mga mayor, i-lock ko, kami-kami lang. Sabihin ko talaga, 'Ganoon kakapal 'yung 'pinakita ko sa inyo. Hanapin mo 'yung pangalan mo diyan, mayor. Putang ina, 'pag nandiyan pangalan mo, may problema ka,'" Duterte said.
"I might go down [in] history as the butcher. Eh bahala kayo," said Duterte.
Duterte said that mayors who are involved to the drug trade will lose some privileges that come under their position.
"The first thing that I would do is to deprive you of the supervisory powers over the police, second is tanggalin ko lahat ng security mo," he said.
