VIRAL NEWS UPDATES - DFA SPOKESPERSON CONFIRMS OFW JAKATIA PAWA WAS EXECUTED IN KUWAIT TODAY!. MUST WATCH THIS!
During a press conference held today, January 25, 2017, Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Charles Jose confirmed that an overseas Filipino worker was executed in Kuwait.
According to Jose, 32-year-old OFW Jakatia Pawa underwent the legal process of proving her innocence. Unfortunately, she was unable to do so and was thus condemned. Her family could not pay the ‘blood money’ owed to the Kuwait government which would have prevented the execution.
Jose confirmed that the Philippine government had been in negotiating regarding the ‘blood money’ for the Pawa case since 2007.
Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte sent a letter of appeal to the Kuwait government seeking clemency on Pawa’s behalf.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Col. Gary Pawa, wing inspector of the 530th Air Base Wing of the Philippine Air Force and Jakatia’s brother, said his sister called him this morning to say her goodbyes.
"Tumawag kapatid ko kanina around 5 o’clock in the morning. Kasi nga nabigla nga ako kanina sa pagtawag niya kasi umiiyak. Sabi niya ‘Kuya, bukas bibitayin na kami" Col. Pawa said, quoting his sister.
“Magpapaalam ako. Kuya, huwag mong pabayaan dalawang anak ko, bukas bibitayin na ako. ‘Yun lang mahihingi ko sa iyo.” He added.
Pawa was executed today by hanging at 3:19 PM Manila time.
"We respect the decision of the justice system in Kuwait." Jose said in regards to the outcome of the ruling.
